Chordata

Phylum Chordata is a group of animals, including vertebrates and some invertebrates like animals that have similar characteristics. All members of this group, at some point in their lives, have notokorda, hollow dorsal nerve cord, pharyngeal slit (pharyngeal slits), endostyle, and a muscular tail that passes through the anus. Vertebrates are the animals that have backbones. In the classification system, the vertebrate phylum Chordata subfilum of. Divided into four subfilum Chordata: Vertebrates, Urochordata, cephalochordates, and Hemichordata. Urochordata and cephalochordates belonging to invertebrates.

Chordata includes those animals that have characteristics as follows:

- Have notokord, rod-shaped frame that is strong but flexible. Notokord located between the digestive tract and nerve cords, extending along the axis of the body form a skeleton.
- Having a single nerve cord, hollow lies dorsal to the notokord, and have an enlarged anterior end of the brain.
- Has a tail that extends towards the posterior of the anus.
- Have pharyngeal slit

All vertebrate animals are classified as having a series of small bones (vertebrae) that extends to the dorsal part of head to tail. The series of vertebrae that form the backbone of the so-called axis of the frame to replace notokord. The backbone of the body serves as an advocate for and protect the nerve cords.
